Noble family emerged in the fifteenth century and remained one of the most influential dynasties in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Radziwills has been one of the richest European families, they owned 23 castles, 426 cities and towns, 2032 estates, 10,053 villages. In 1547 Radziwills received the title of the princes of the Holy Roman Empire.
Radziwills for 166 years occupied one of the most important offices in the Grand Duchy - the Vilnius voivod office. The family had 37 voivods, 22 ministers (chancellors, Marshals, Hetmans, treasurers), 3 bishops, 1 cardinal, 1 Queen and many other dignitaries.
