A Samogitian's Steam Plane
In the year 1851 Aleksandras Griškevičius (aviation theorist, constructor, philosopher) in the Kaunas gubernia printing house printed the booklet "Parolot žmuidzina. Z swobodnej mysli Aleksandra Hryszkiewicza" (A Samogitian's steam plane. According to the free thought of Aleksander Hryszkiewicz). In it, he described in detail the controllable aerostat, the fitting of wings to a person, the flying machine with or without a balloon, he raised the idea of a steam-driven propeller - an Archimedean screw and horizontal wings.
