The battle of Shklov was fought on August 12th in 1654, near the town Shklov during the fourth war between the Lithuanian-Polish Commonwealth and the Grand Duchy of Moscow (1654-1667). The battle took place during a solar eclipse, which has resulted a panic on both sides, but the army of the Commonwealth republic, with a skillful leader Janusz Radziwill, defeated the enemy which numbers exceeded ten times. Unfortunately impressive victory did not stop further invasion of the enemy, and a few years later came the sad period in the history- "the Flood".
